French mouth small cheek Pelham bit blue steel with copper
Jump'In
- Composition : Pelham with 45 mm long branches and 16 mm Blue Steel cannons with 100% copper rings. The Blue Steel alloy used in this Jump’In range is made of 54% carbon and 46% manganese. Blue steel bit oxidizes with air and humidity creating a thin layer of rust which has a sweet taste. It will stimulate the production of saliva and naturally allow the horse to relax. The horse will be more comfortable and will take the bit more. The bit color will turn into a greyish brown due to this oxidation process.
- Effect : The Pelham is a good compromise between a double bridle and a classic bridle. It gives a more or less strong lever effect that will depends on the size of the branches and on the chain adjustment. It will generate a neck cession and a pressure on the mandibles. The longer the branches are, the stronger the action is. The French-mouth cannons make this bit more comfortable by relieving the horse from any pressure on their palate. Moreover, the copper rings on the central piece will induce the horse relaxation while working.
- Using advice : All Pelhams bits can be used in direct, with four reins or with Pelham loops. The curb chain action can be softened by other chain materials like leather, nylon or by a real chain with a cover. The cannons are thinner than standard ones so they will bring more finesse in the rider’s demands. The copper rings can help the horse focusing and taking the bit more.
